Best New Music of 2009: Keane's List

It's a staple of any year-end commentary: best new music lists. Along with favorite books, dirtiest hotels, best dressed, dumbest celebrities and the infinite variations thereof, it seems as though it's an activity hard-wired into editorial calendars worldwide. So, naturally, we couldn't resist contributing.

We're not critics, though, so we shied away from any in-depth analysis or even a proper countdown – just a quick group of some of the music we'd enjoyed this year. Because the stereo is always on at Keane, this list also represents, in a way, a no-play list for 2010...ironically, when you like a record so much that you play it all the time, people are liable to get sick of it. Boo democracy!

RP's picks in black; RM's in white. What were your favorite albums of 2009?

These reviews had me smiling. I especially liked Russ Maloney's Animal Collective writeup. Now I need to hear LMFAO - dropbox me some tunes Russ Perry.

If we'd expanded the list to 20 picks apiece, Justin, he may have made it in.
